Ahead of the state governorship elections, the leadership of Edo State youths has admonished youths across board to eschew violence and be vanguard of peace and true ambassadors of the country.

The youths added tht there would not be a country called Nigeria if they allow themselves to be used as catalyst for destruction in the name of elections and politics.

The admonition was made by the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Edo State Chapter, Comrade Innocent Ajayi while honoring Alhaji.Ganiyu Lawani as Patron of the National Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) South-South zone.

According to him, “A lot of youths have lost their way and forgotten the purpose in our country. The youth needs to embrace peace and shun violence, as it only destroys”

Mr  Ajayi who is also the vice chairman of South -South zone of the NYCN, assured that the choice of Alhaji Ganiyu Abdul was borne out of his ( Alhaji Ganiyu) philanthropic disposition to the plights of the youths in the state, especially in the South-South zone  and in the country in general through job creation.

Adding,” We have kept tabs on his activities and we have discovered that he deserved to be our Patron. More so, we have a lot more to learn from his wealth of ideas and wisdom”.

Responding, the new Patron, Alhaji Ganiyu Abdul Lawani, thanked the executive of the council for considering him worthy to be their Patron noting that he will not let them down but to always play the role of a father to them.

Ganiyu disclosed that he derived pleasure in giving and contributing to the development of the youth as the future belong them.

He however lamented that some youths have allowed themselves to be used negatively by unscrupulous politicians who never mean well for them, adding that the death of a youth will impact negatively on the nation’s manpower.

He advised them to engage themselves in a meaningful adventure, that will make them useful to themselves and to the nation, stressing that the forthcoming governorship election is not the first to have been conducted in the state, and neither will it be the last, therefore, “You must not allow yourselves to be used as tools in the hands of politicians”.
