Assistant Inspector General Of Police,Zone Five,(AIG) Musa Daura hasharped on the need for voters education of the electorate ahead of the state gubernatorial election just as he sued for proper orientation of political parties and their supporters to be law abiding and eschew acts of violence capable of causing tension before, during and afterthe forth coming Edo state gubernatorial election in the state.

Daura who spoke during a courtesy call on him by the All ProgressiveCongress (APC) Gubernatorial Aspirant in the state, Maj.Gen.CharlesAirhiavbere(Rtd)at the Zone Five Police Headquarters in Benin city ,said most of the challenges encountered by the Police force during electioneering campaign period was as a result of “a high level of unwholesome activities of supporters of politicians and politicalparties .

“He said the Nigeria Police Zonal Headquarters in Benin city, the Edostate capital has recorded achievement in crime reduction particularly, in the area of kidnapping, murder and cultism in the states which is under its controls namely, Bayelsa, Delta and Edostates.

Airhaivbere (Rtd) who commended the police for the their immense contributions towards ensuring a secured and peaceful atmosphere during elections in the country, said the police is highly recognized for its role in ensuring a peaceful and violence free election” and solicited for its continued sustenance to ensure a violence freeelection ahead of the Edo Guber election scheduled for September10,2016.

Daura while appreciating the concerns of political stakeholders in the forthcoming Edo elections urged all politicians and political partiesin the state to play according to the rules as the police will ensurea level playing ground for all parties.

According to him,”the Police Command will do everything humanly possible within the law to ensure sanity before, during and after the election in the state.”
