The coronation ceremony of His Royal Highness, Crown prince, Eheneden Erediauwa N’ Uselu earlier scheduled for September 26, has been shifted to October 20, 2016

The change in date which was announced in the palace of the Benin Monarch by the Chairman, Coronation planning committee, HRH, Prof. Gregory Akenzua noted that, the shift was consequence upon the Edo Governorship election previously billed for Saturday September 10, 2016 by Independent Electoral Commission, INEC.

While addressing newsmen earlier today, Prof. Akenzua posited that it was imperative to abreast members of the public of the recent development concerning the new date of the coronation of the new Oba of Benin Kingdom.

His Words: ‘’in line with our commitment to always keep you abreast of activities of the planning committee for the coronation of His Royal Highness, Crown Prince, Amb. Eheneden Erediauwa, Edaiken N’ Uselu as the new Oba of Benin it has become necessary to announce to you that the date for the coronation has been changed from Monday, September 26,  to Wednesday October 20, 2016’’

Continuing, he stated that; “the change of date is sequel to the announcement by Independent Electoral Commission that they have changed the date for the gubernatorial election in Edo State, which was originally scheduled for Saturday September 10, to Wednesday 28, 2016.

Consequently, the Coronation Boss however noted that from the day the Edaiken N’Uselu leaves Uselu Palace for Eko-Ohae, the use of Coral Beads by those entitled will be restored and the current use of ‘Omo N’Orhue meaning, ‘white Beads’ should be discontinued as all burial ceremonies are prohibited through the period of the Coronation.

Prof. Akenzua while concluding informed that all accreditation for the coronation activities shall be subjected to clearance by security sub-committee for the coverage.
