As a way of getting the country out of the Economic Recession,  a  Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Olorogun Dave Okorare, has called on the Federal Government to put in motion action that would lead to the scrapping of the House of Representatives describing the House of Representatives as unproductive and waste of resources.

Speaking to our Correspondent in Warri recently, he said Nigerians should be able to modify their democratic system to suit their purpose rather than copying the United States of America (USA) kind of democracy.

According to him, “We should know that Nigeria is a mono-economy based country, depending on crude oil alone and the bicameral legislature is too expensive for a country like Nigeria to cope with.

“If we calculate the overall annual take home of one House of Representatives Member plus their retinue of aids, in fact the budget of the House of Representative compare to their output is unnecessary a waste.”

“Look around the country and ask yourself the so-called constituency projects and they cannot find any, the whole funds go to their private pockets. And the most annoying part of it is the so-called padding, when they know that the people they are claiming to be representing are dying of hunger and starvation.

“There are jobless people everywhere, decay in infrastructure, manufacturing industries are closing up in doves–daily. In fact, there is hardship everywhere and our lawmakers are not bothered about the sufferings of the people,” he said.

He stated that Nigeria is not ripe for a bicameral legislature, is a colossal waste retaining the House of Representatives
