By Francis Sadhere
The people of oil-rich Diebiri Batan community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state have appealed to the Federal and the State Governments to urgently take drastic steps to put an end to the communal crisis between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja in the interest of all.
The people who spoke through the Chairman of the community, Mr. Don Dickson and the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Diebiri kingdom, Deacon Wellington Igete disclosed that the communal crisis has led to an alleged invasion of their community by some persons from Aladja since 1995.
They noted that the alleged invasion by some persons from the Aladja community since 1995 has made most indigenes of the Diebiri community to flee their home land to other areas for fear of being attacked.
They therefore called on Governments to act fast as they never had any dispute with Aladja community.
Mr. Dickson and Deacon Igete stated that Diebiri is an oil rich community insisting that some persons have started encroaching and excavating sand, building on their land without permission.
They called on relevant authorities to join in the peace efforts to put an end to the alleged invasion of their community to enable them return to their land in the interest of peace
