Community Newspaper Publishers have been called upon to àlways ensure they engage in proper cross checking of stories to avoid churning out stories that are not balanced.

This call was made by Rt. Hon. Guwor Emomotimi Dennis, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) while addressing Community Newspaper Publishers at the House of Assembly complex in Asaba who paid a courtesy call on him, he said that for the people of Delta State to understand government policies and work in line with their civic responsibility, Community Newspaper Publishers must ensure they publish balanced stories .

Accordng to Rt. Hon. Guwor, “it will do Deltans no good when you publish one sided story that is why it is important for you all to ensure that stories your field reporters send across to you for publications are adequately verified and balanced.”

While reassuring the Publishers of his commitment to sustain the cordial relationship that existed between his predecessor turn Governor, His Excellency Sherrif Oborevwori with them, Rt. Hon. Guwor promised to encourage a better partnership that will transform lives of Publishers in the state.

Rt. Hon. Guwor added, “we are in the era of “M-O-R-E” Agenda, my Predecessor His Excellency, Governor Sherrif Oborevwori has pledge to deliver more infrastructural and Human Capital development to Deltans and we as lawmakers are fully ready to ensure that all the Constituents represented in this Chamber feel the impact of good governance”.

Speaking earlier,Comr. Jude Obiemyengo, Chairman, Association Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria, Delta State chapter congratulated Rt. Hon. Guwor and other Principal Officers of the Delta State House of Assembly for their emergence in their various Key positions .

Comr. Obiemyengo expressed confidence that no doubt , Deltans should be ready to experience another robust legislative section with the leadership of Rt. Hon. Guwor.

He appealed to the leadership of the House of Assembly to build on the legacy of His Excellency Sherrif Oborevwori who is also a Patron of Community Newspaper Publishers in the state.

The Delta State Chairman of ACNPN said that the Publishers are ready to partner with the law makers to ensure those in the grassroots benefits adequately from their representatives.
