The Delta State police have vowed to mop up notorious criminals in the state, warning criminals in the state to stay clear as the full arm of the law will soon catch up with them.

The Ag Police Public Relation Officer, Delta State, DSP Charles Muka stated this today at the Ekpan Divisional Police Station while parading two armed robbers that were gunned by the police and four arrested armed robbers.

The PPRO advised criminals in the state to turn a new leaf or be ready to face the wrath of the police.

According to Muka, the two unidentified armed robbers were gunned down after a gun duel with the Ekpan Anti Crime Patrol team.

Muka said that the police acted after one Adamu Habu of NNPC Housing Complex, Ekpan, reported that he was attacked and his Volkswagen Passat, 2006 model with Registration No. K; 781 EK was snatched away at gun point by dire-devil armed robbers.

He said; “In the process, the robbers abandoned one Toyota Camry with registration No. BB 294 USL. On receiving the report, the Ekpan Anti Crime Patrol Team gave the armed bandit a hot chase.”

The Delta State PPRO added that on noticing the police the armed robbers opened fire on them and the police returned fire for fire and in the process two of the four armed robbers were gunned down while two escaped with bullet wounds.

Some of the items recovered from the armed robbers were; one locally made pistol, two live and two expended cartridge, one Toyota Camry with registration number BB 294 USL, one Volkswagen Passat with registration number JL 781 EKY, ten mobile handsets, and three wrist watches.

He said the police were making efforts to arrest the two fleeing gang members.

In a similar development, the Ekpan Police has also arrested four notorious armed robbers specialized in car snatching.

According to DSP Muka, the police went on trail of the armed robbers after it got a report by Mr. Benis Egodo who reported that he was attacked by six armed robbers who snatched his Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number KJA 696 CD and other valuable at gun point.

He said; “Ekpan investigation team on receiving the information trailed the notorious car snatchers who have been terrorizing Ekpan and environs, to Kaduna where the four self-confessed armed robbers namely Christopher Ode (m), Oke Ese (m,), Dawuda Kola (m), and Tope Ajayi (m), were arrested.

Items recovered from four armed robbers were, one Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number KJA 696 CD and one Toyota Corrolla with registration number FKJ 822 CL.

Muka said investigation was still in progress and that at the end of the investigation they will be charged to court.
