The Delta State Local Poll held on 25, October, 2015 has made hundreds of travelers stranded at the Niger Bridge Head, Asaba.

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State

Our Correspondent observed that the travelers were prevented from continuing their journey by security agencies at the Asaba end of the bridge in compliance with the restriction of movement announced by the state government.

Mostly affected were those travelling from the Eastern part of the country to the South West as well as those going to Benin in Edo State.

Long queue of vehicles were noticed on the bridge head up to Onitsha in Anambra state.

Some of the stranded passengers and commuters lamented the untold hardship they were subjected because of an election that had nothing to do with them.

The travelers told our correspondent that they were unaware of the election and that they had spent several hours at the point without the security agents heeding their pleas.

One of the travelers, Mr. Stan Okeke however said he was aware of the election in Delta State but did not expect that a federal highway would be blocked adding “inter-state transportation should have been allowed to pass since we have nothing to do with the election,”
