Members of the Forum of NBA Chairmen of Delta State have been called upon to adhere strictly to all Covid-19 protocols to avoid been catch up in the Web of the Pandemic.

This call was made by Mr. Peter Adogbejire Mrakpor, (SAN) Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State when he played host to members of the Forum of NBA Chairmen, Delta State Chapter in Asaba, he lamented that despite the global Pandemic and many deaths arising from the new variants of the virus, many are still wallowing in the dark .

The Delta Commissioner for Justice told the people to always put on their face mask, explaining that due to the worrisome situation the country and the world at large has found itself as a result, Delta State government has constituted mobile courts to prosecute those who fail to observe all Covid-19 protocols.

According to Mr. Mrakpor ,” people by their nature believe that Coronavirus does not exist. I have lost more than six to eight persons of recent that I know. So it is something one has to be very careful about. “

He added, ” everyone should take the issue of their face mask very serious. Last time, over one hundred persons were arrested and convicted. It means that they are all convicts. We have to be very careful. Please tell our people to be cautious about this. The conviction aspects is what borders me , hence I must mention this.”

While appreciating the members for their condolence message to the Governor of Delta State who recently lost his father, the Delta State Attorney General assured that every of the issues brought before him would be promptly addressed.

The Chairman of the Forum of NBA Chairmen of Delta State, Chief Emmanuel Uti, who congratulated the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Delta State, Mr. Mrakpor (SAN)on his elevation to the dignified rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, also expressed his condolence to the Governor of Delta State on the death of his father.

While presenting the issues they discussed during the well attended meeting, intimated the Attorney General on the need for the provision of security personnel for courts. Proposed Bill on Land Instrument Preparation Charges , need to make laws of the state readily available for legal Practitioner’s, need for seminars /refreshers courses for the law officers on the ACJL and other new laws etc.

Other issues discussed were :need for better working environment, provision of vehicles, insurance covers etc for the law officers in the Ministry of Justice, State Bar/Bench Forum -participation of the Ministry of Justice ,appointment of additional judges for the High Court including relaxing conditions for the granting fiat to private practitioner’s especially as it concerns tax clearance certificate.

During the meeting, the issues of procurement of Buses for Udu and Effurun Branches, Financial aid/assistance to branches for/during Law Week or other events, money for the Warri Bar Centre , need to help follow it up and conclude same including involving/carrying the Bar along in Government activities/events/programmes were equally exhaustively deliberated upon.
