He warned the students that cultism remained banned in the university, stressing that any student caught engaging in any form of cultism in the campus will not only be thrown out but his or her name will be published in all national dailies and the internet, making it difficult for such student to gain admission into any school in the world.

He advised the new students to comport themselves diligently, observe the rules and regulations of the university and refrain from activities which are inimical to the growth of intellectualism.

“I want to warn that the university takes serious exception to issues that bother on indiscipline and lawlessness particular when such actions involve violence, cultism and breach of peace, examination malpractice, indecent dressing and any kind of action that come under the broad classification of breach of matriculation oath,” the VC said.

Professor Peretomode also revealed that the institution had discovered that some registered associations had been infiltrated by cultists who use such bodies as cover up, emphasized that it’s searchlight is beamed on such organizations with the aim of flushing out such miscreants.

The VC thanked the Delta State Government under the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for it’s interest and commitment which has led to the overall well-being of the university.

He said, “I wish to use this opportunity to express our profound appreciation to the Executive Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and the government of the state for the giant step taken in the overall development of the university. On our part, we will remain focused in the pursuit of academic excellence and as well pursue the prudent management of the resources of the university and it’s overall development.”

He said the University has grown from from a modest beginning to a model citadel of learning and research and has continued to follow the part of peace in the pursuit of it’s primary objective which has resulted in harmonious relationship with members of the university community.
