Delta Area Chevron Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society (DACEMPCS) Housing Estate with one hundred and eighty units would boost the economy of Delta State in general and Effurun-Warri metropolis in particular when completed and ready for use in 2017.

This was disclosed by Sir David Edafe Ikutegbe, immediate past president, DACEMPCS during the ground-breaking ceremony of the Society’s Housing Estate along Effurun-Sapele Road, Effurun.

The ground-breaking was performed by Rt. Rev. Christian Ideh, Bishop, Anglican Diocese, Warri.

Sir Ikutegbe expressed happiness at the success of the ceremony saying that the project would open up new vistas of opportunities for many Deltans and resident non Deltans as it would no doubt boost socio-economic activities in the area.

He gave an assurance that the Housing Estate would be completed within the set time just as he called for co-operation and support from members of the Co-operative society and the public to achieve the goal.

Presenting the proto-type of the Housing Estate, Mr. Soji Akinwande, General Manager, DACEMPCS, disclosed that the Housing Estate which is mainly for members would have a model school, ultra-modern market, recreation centre where members and the public would use for exercises and refreshment.

Mr. Akinwande further disclosed that the completion time frame of the Housing Estate is two years just as he said that local labour would be deployed for the construction.

In his brief comments, Mr. Itse Pemu, newly inaugurated president of DACEMPCS said that the Housing Estate would provide affordable houses for members and Deltans.

Reading from the Bible book of Psalms chapter 27, Rt. Rev. Ideh in his brief sermon called on Nigerians particularly members of the Co-operative Society to totally depend on God in everything to be able to realize their dreams and aspirations.

Also speaking, Mr. Chuks Onyekpe, Director of Co-operatives, Ministry of Commerce commended members of the Society for their commitment towards the growth and advancement of the co-operative with the laudable Housing Estate project as an example, he promised that the Delta State Government would continue to provide enabling environment for the co-operative society to thrive.

The ceremony was attended by Lt. Col. J.O. Bassey, Commanding Officer, Three Battallion, Effurun, representatives of General Manger, Chevron Nigeria Ltd.

High point of the ceremony was the laying of the foundation block of the Housing Estate by Rt. Rev. Christian Ideh.
