The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has been honoured in acknowledgement of his track record of excellent leadership and humanitarian approach to governance.

The honour was presented to him by Centre for Peace, Transparency and Accountability together with Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, yesterday with a Certificate of Performance.

Speaking on behalf of the delegates, President, Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic said they had not come to present the certificate of performance to the MD/CEO of DESOPADEC, simply because he was the MD, but because they had kept track of his exploits over the years and determined that he deserved the honour.

Comrade Ogakwu Dominic added that the certificate was to encourage the MD to up his game, as well as to encourage him to use technology to bring positive change to DESOPADEC, as an ambassador of good leadership and a proven strategist.

The MD/CEO, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, in his response, thanked God for journey mercy granted to them from Abuja and for the lofty award of excellence embedded in the certificate of performance issued him.

At the onset of the meeting, Bashorun Ogieh recalled how the initial frosty relationship between Civil Society Groups and the Board of DESOPADEC has now developed into a cordial one.

Responding, the President, Comrade Ogakwu Dominic acknowledged that Askia’s transparency move saved the day, during the said dispute. He specially thanked the MD for being an outstanding leader and promised to stand by him throughout his tenure as MD/CEO, DESOPADEC.

The team included the President, Civil Society Groups for Good Governance, Executive Director, Center for Peace, Transparency and Accountability (CTPA), Patrick Ogheneyero, Gladys Omana (Gender Desk Officer), Robert Christopher (Secretary, CTPA) and Okotie Humphrey (PRO, CTPA).

Others present during the presentation of Certificate of Performance to Bahsorun Askia Ogieh includes; The Executive Director Social Services, Barr Leonard Anoka and Executive Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Amb. Shadrach Agediga witnessed the presentation. Other members of DESOPADEC management team present were, HOD Finance, Louis Ajieh, Executive Assistant to the MD, Mrs Duke and Acting Head of Media and Public Affairs, Mrs Chinenye Ezonfade.
