As Nigeria Celebrates her 60th anniversary, Christ Embassy, Warri on Thursday spiced up the celebration with a 10 kilometers marathon race.

The marathon race which started from the DSC roundabout, Effurun, Delta, ended up at the church premises located at Airport Road Warri.

The Warri Zonal Pastor, Evangelist Eddy Owase, who kicked off the marathon said the church decided to organize the marathon to publicize Jesus to the world.

Owase said, “As a church we are involved in soul winning. Reach Out Nigeria Rhapsody of Reality is one of those things that God has given us to reach out to souls.

“This year we decided to have a marathon and as you can see it was fun and quite exciting.

“Spiritually the marathon sends a message because we have all embarked in a race of life. According to the scripture, it is everyone that embarks in a race but it is only one person that wins the crown.

“Just like a man who embarks in a race plans to win the race, so also Christians also plan to win the race of life. This is the significance of this marathon.

In his brief sermon at the church, Owase said that in commemoration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary, Christ Embassy Church plans to distribute over three billion free copies of Rhapsody of Reality devotional and Bible guide magazine worldwide.

While saying that the distribution of the free copies of the magazine was the church’s way of building the Nation, Owase added that Nigeria can only be great if the people know the word of God.

He said that the distribution of the daily devotional magazine to all nook and cranny of the country will go a long way in changing the mindsets of Nigerians positively.

“Nigeria is not a failed nation, Nigeria is a strong nation and building Nigeria is a responsibility of all Nigerians. every Nigerian has to be involved in Nigerian and every Nigerian must be positive about Nigeria,” Owase noted

“Reach Out Nigeria (RON) is a program we have every year where we take the message of God to all kinds of people in Nigeria”.

“We know that for this country to change we will need the word of God. It is just like what the Gospel of God said that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the only thing that can change humanity.

“This is the driving force of ‘Reach Out Nigeria.’ It is aimed at reaching the heart of both young and old with the word of God, thereby encouraging patriotism and nation-building. So it’s all about nation-building,” Owaise said.

He further noted that apart from the distribution of the magazine, the church has also embarked on different projects that have impacted the lives of Nigerians.

“We have embarked on various projects during this period. We have embarked on different projects in the prisons, orphanage homes, police stations, and other places. We aim to touch lives using different social sectors and at the same time sharing the word of God with the people,” he said.
