There is palpable tension in the oil-rich city of Warri as rival youth groups in Igbudu community and Agbassa community engaged themselves in bloody clash.

Reason for the clash is not yet clear, but sources said it might not be unconnected with the recent assassination of Labour Party candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Bright Obodo.

The youths who were armed with dangerous weapons shut down activities at the ever busy Warri Sapele Road. They set a building ablaze and torched some cars and tricycles parked along the road.

Before the police could get to the scene of the crime, our correspondent who was at the scene reports that the youths had a free for all as they harassed anybody that challenged them. In the process they started looting and stabbing anybody that came across their way.

In call put across to the Warri Area Command, ACP Mohammed Muazu by our correspondent in the heat of the crisis, he said he has already sent his men to the troubled area to quell the situation.

It took the efforts of the combined squared from the Warri Area Command to arrest the situation, as the youth flee at the sight of the policemen, while men of the Delta State fire service rushed in to put out the fire in the burning building.

But before the fire-fighters could get to the burning house, a part of the building was already consumed by the raging fire

When our corresponded got to the building, those affected could be seen trying to salvage what is left of their property

As at the time of filing this report military men were still stationed around the troubled area, as they condoned off the area from any vehicular movement.

One of the youths told our correspondent under strict anonymity that the whole area will get bloodier at night, adding the youths are getting ready for a real showdown with themselves.
