Over five hundred children in Sapele metropolis, colourfully dressed for the occasion, converged Saturday, at Labelle Events Centre to enjoy the maiden all free children’s party hosted by the Blessing Ify Mordi Foundation, a non profitable humanitarian organisation.

The fun fair which is part of activities to mark the Children’s Day in Nigeria was put together with the sole aim to bringing happiness and colour to the lives of children regardless of their sex or age. Indeed, the Foundation succeeded in its quest as joyous smiles seen on the faces of the young people spoke volumes about their happiness and satisfaction.

To spice up the event which the founder of the Blessing Ify Mordi Foundation, Ms. Blessing Ify Mordi said has come to stay, guest artistes and comedians like the Trailblazers, MC Strawberry, Shosko V., Fejiro, Swag Z and MC Talk Plenty thrilled the children. Also, some of the children partook in beauty pageantry and dance competitions and winners were awarded prizes.

The Foundation according to Mordi, a Mechanical Engineering graduate who has bagged several titles in the world of beauty pageantry including Miss Style Catwalk Queen Nigeria 2012/2013, Miss New Nigeria World South-South Ambassador and Nigeria Goodwill Ambassador, was intended to bring happiness to children who do not have opportunity to celebrate the day.

“We don’t want children to feel left out so we decided to come up with a programme that will bring smiles on their faces; something that will make them happy, as you can see they are out there dancing and laughing. Those smiles may cost nothing but it means a lot to them.”

While counting the cost of meeting the goals of the foundation, she realized that she cannot succeed in the vacuum without goodwill assistance from institutions and good spirited individuals.

The Blessing Ify Mordi Foundation was formally registered in 2014 with the aim of the impacting lives of children, youths and the elderly. It periodically organises educational/enlightenment programmes as well as health programmes.

It looks forward to holding the second edition of its annual quiz competition for secondary school students in November.
