Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) in collaboration with Irecharge has unveiled a new simple mode with which customers in all its franchise States can pay their electricity bills with ease.

Irecharge is a unique way of paying electricity bills through Individual bank accounts without the use of data, App or attracting any extra charges by simply dialing *6606*1# on your phone.

Declaring the occasion open, Dr. Henry Ajagbawa,, Executive Managing Director disclosed that part of the constraints electricity customers experience is the inability to have easy access to payment of bills.

Accordng to Dr. Ajagbawa, “after taking a cursory look at the challenges of our customers, we resolved to onboard aggregators and one of the aggregators is Irecharge platform which is going to provide a more convenient way of payment of electricity bills to our customers”.

Dr. Ajagbawa noted that the unveiling of the Irecharge payment platform is part of the company’s mission to provide service satisfaction to its teeming customers across Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti States respectively.

He stressed that the management of Irecharge must work in tandem with the Corporate Communication Team of BEDC to generate contents that those in the interiors can understand to enable them embrace the payment mode.

Dr. Ajagbawa added, “the Communication strategy of this innovation must be very strategic to reach our teeming customers in all the franchise states. “

In his remarks, Mr, Tomi Araromi , Managing Director of Irecharge commended the management of BEDC for adopting the Irecharge payment platform for its customers.

According to Mr. Araromi, “our being here today is a testament to our drive for fast payment of electricity bills, to simplify payment mode that guarantees safe, fast and convenient transaction through individual bank account number for prepaid and post paid users”.

He said that the Irecharge services help electricity customers to pay their bills conveniently.

He assured BEDC and its customers that management of Irecharge has put all modalities in place to ensure that all challenges are nipped in the bud.

To ascertain the effectiveness of the purchase process, Irecharge Head of Customers Service, Roseline Igwe demonstrated how customers can purchase their electricity bill through dialing USSD code, or dial *660 6*1# to purchase as two staff of BEDC called out their Meter numbers and received their token in two seconds.

The National President of Association of Mobile Money and Banks Agents of Nigeria (AMMBAN), Mr. Victor Olojo also remarked that they were ready to work with Irecharge to ensure electricity consumers understand how to pay their bills through Irecharge platform.

Earlier, the CFO, Dr. Ehanire Agama reiterated the commitment of BEDC to satisfy customers’ demands in ensuring they get value for their money.

He added that with the collaboration between BEDC and Irecharge, electricity customers should be in the position to testify of the benefits of the new innovation in place.
