He gave the charge on the occasion of its 2015/16 matriculation
ceremony held today at the Akin Deko Main Auditorium Ugbowo Campus Benin City.

While delivering his address, the VC urged the students to work hand in hand with the management of the institution in ensuring they continuously remain in the high pedestal it is currently occupying as regards academic strides and all round excellence.

” May I at this juncture encourage you all to be good ambassadors;
also to work hand in hand with the management. I implore you to be
determined, diligent and resilient in the acquisition of your various
academic endeavour, which is your primary aim of coming to school. I encourage you to be decent and shun evil vices like cultism, drug
abuse, prostitution, exam malpractices and other immoral activities
that may mal your sojourn,”he said.

Prof. Orumwense also encourage the matriculants to be law abiding as the school authority will clamp down on any nefarious act that would compel the institution to apply appropriate sanctions against any offender.

The university don however, posited that the fact that the university is steadily rising does not imply that there are no challenges; but assured that the institution in its commitment will provide an enabling environment conducive for learning.
