Mr. Omamuzo Erebe Esq. Secretary, Judicial Panel on Police Brutality and Extra-Judicial killing has assured that all petitioners would be given equal opportunity to be heard.

Mr. Erebe gave this assurance while speaking to Daily Independent in Warri at the end of it’s sitting, he said that the duty of the Panel is to hear all petition and no one would be denied the right to be held.

He disclosed that the Panel has tried to be fair to both Petitioners and Respondents, adding that at the end of it’s sittings, the Panel will sit to take position in each of the matters.

Mr. Erebe Esq. added that the duty of the Panel is to ensure they capture what the grievances are and make recommendations based on the facts and not on emotions that have been brought before it to enable Government to take a position.

According to the Secretary of the Judicial Panel, “the implementation of the Panel decisions or recommendations is not that of the Panel but that of Government, the Panel is just to hear and make recommendation to the Government.”

Speaking further, he said that the Panel made sure that opportunity was giving to everyone to ventilate their claim. Ideally, he said it would have been easy to strike out some of these matters, adding, ” to be fair to all, we tried to hear everybody and afford them another opportunity to expantiatemore on their claim.”
