As the race to fill the vacant position in the Delta Central Senatorial District seat in the House of Senate heats up, one of the Senatorial aspirants, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has said that the decision for him to run under the All Progressives Congress is to build a foundation for the restoration of the Urhobo nation.

Olorogun Emerhor said this in Udu local government area of Delta State, weekend, when he paid a courtesy call on Chief Harvest Igben.

He said that with the emergence of APC in the country and the Urhobos joining the party, it will be written in the history of Delta state that the redemption of the Urhobos started with APC.

He said that there are two major parties in the country, adding that the Urhobos cannot continue to suffer under a small party where they will not be recognized in the national level.

“There are going to be two major parties in this country and now there are two major parties in the country. The way it is in America, Europe and other countries that is what is coming here. Anybody who is  saying the Urhobos should not be landlords does not mean well for the Urhobos. In this party we are going to be the landlords and I say thank you to my brother here who has gathered everybody here today,” he said.

The APC aspirant added ; “You know some of us worked in DPP, even with the support of people like him because we wanted to claim back some of the things that have been taken from us. But DPP was too small for what we wanted to do. And each time we won elections, we are robbed of our victories  because we do not have anywhere to run to. How can we continue like that? Anybody who is  saying we should continue to stay in a small party is not  a true son of Urhobo.”

Olorogun Emerhor also stressed that the gathering together of Urhobos under the umbrella of the APC was for the interest of the whole Urhobo nation.

He however, warned members of the party to be careful of PDP members, who will come and infiltrate APC camp under the guise of fighting for Urhobo cause.

He said the Delta Central Senatorial election in the state was going to be the acid test for APC, adding that they are going to win it and they are goingto wrestle power from the PDP come 2015.

He said; “I am sending a message to all, that Urhobos will continue to remain strong and anybody who does not recognize us will recognize us. Anybody who does not know that we exist will receive a shocker. When we are strong then they will come and talk to us. when the Ijaws stood up and fought, did you not see where it got them to?”

Olorogun Emerhor also warned that the Urhobos must stand firm on their feet in the fight to redeem the people because if they missed this opportunity, they have failed the people.

Chief Harvest Igben who congratulated Olorogun Emerhor for his contribution to the building of the Urhobo Progress Union’s (UPU) secretariat, said that he is solidly behind him in his quest to go to Abuja to fight for the Urhobo people.

He assured Olorogun Emerhor that he will get to his destination because the Urhobos are shopping for a credible person that will lead them to the Promised Land.
