Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state.

The visit at the Warri Township Stadium followed report of unrest and low morale in the camp of the team ahead of the crucial tie against their Congolese opponents.

Our correspondent gathered that the players had threatened not to come out for the match over unpaid arrears, bonuses and other emoluments.

Uduaghan however assured that arrangements had been made to release funds to offset the debts.

He charged the team to take the match seriously, adding, “Don’t take Congo for granted. They are a good side. Their national team has show us how good they are in Uyo.”

Also, the DFF chairman, Austin Okocha urged the team to score as many goals as possible so that the return match would be mere formality.

Okocha said teams make their own luck through adequate preparations and being in the right frame to take advantage of opportunities when they come.

In his response, the team’s media manager, Moses Etu assured the governor of the team’s determination to record a resounding victory.
