Speaking at the well attended ceremony, the Governor harped on the importance of peace and security, noting that he would not have achieved much if there was no peace in the state.

The Governor who said the Effurun Roundabout project cost the state government the sum of 4.1 billion naira, said the project was the cheapest in any part of the country.

The Effurun Flyover bridge, he explained to the colourful gathering, was conceived by him as a way of reducing traffic congestion in the area.

While thanking the Uvwie monarch and his subjects for creating the enabling peaceful environment for the completion of the flyover bridge, Governor Uduaghan reiterated that the Effurun played a very strategic rule in the state and therefore cannot be ignored by the state government.

He said the Effurun Roundabout serves as an exit point to many communities in Delta state and beyond, adding that the government decided to beam its searchlight on the area because of its economic importance in the state.

“Effurun or Uvwie is very dear to us because it is like the hearbeat of Delta State. There is no way you can ignore Uvwie because you must pass through here to go to other parts of the country. If you have not pass through here it only means you are not in Delta State. So Uvwie is very strategic in terms of location in Delta State. So whatever we are doing here was necessary to be done here,”Governor Uduaghan said.

Governor Uduaghan used the opportunity to thank all Deltans for conducting themselves peacefully before and after the just concluded presidential, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, emphasizing that their conduct has put the state’s enemies, who have earlier predicted that there would be crisis during the election, to shame.

He also called on Deltans to repeat the same peaceful disposition it exhibited during the last elections in the next re-run Senate election scheduled to hold on Saturday April 25th.

The elated Governor Uduaghan said he was very happy that Delta state was not in the list of states that had issues of violence during the last elections as announced by both local and international observers.

Earlier, the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme enjoined all Deltans to show gratitude to Governor Uduaghan’s administration by supporting and casting their votes for the Peoples’s Democratic Party in the state, stressing that the             PDP government in the state has done a lot for the state, and that it will continue to do more for the state under the new administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

He commended Governor Uduaghan for being proactive by ensuring that he brings development to all parts of the state, adding that governor Uduaghan will always be remembered for the good things he has done for the state.

Also, the Uvwie monarch, while commending Governor Uduaghan for all the wonderful development project that he has brought to the local government council, said the Uvwie people will ever remain grateful to the Governor.

He told the entire people that graced the occasion that because of the wonderful things Governor Uduaghan has done for the council area, he and his palace chiefs have decided to adopt Governor Uduaghan as their son, and that he is free to ask for anything that he wished for in the area.

While outlining some of the projects Governor Uduaghan has brought to the council area, the Uvwie monarch said Governor Uduaghan has done more for the people of Uvwie council area than any other council area in the state.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Uvwie council boss, Hon. Henry Baro commended Governor Uduaghan for commissioning the Effurun Roundabout Flyover Bridge in such a short time, saying that the Flyover Bridge has added to the aesthetic value of the environment.

Hon. Baro said the people of Uvwie will ever remain grateful to Governor Uduaghan for all the projects it has attracted to the area, noting that the peaceful disposition of the people during the just concluded general elections in the state could be attributed to the three point agenda of Peace and Security, Human Capital Development and Infrastructural Development of the Governor Emmanuel administration.
