A new executive of Ubeji Community Trust, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, was recently inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the community for the next three years with a promise to build on the legacies of the past administrations in the interest of all and sundry as well as move the community to greater heights.

Those sworn-in were, Engr. Clement Erewa, Chairman, Comrade Gbugbemi Mone, Vice Chairman, Patricia Edun, Secretary, Eric Bomele, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sunny Omatsuli Treasurer and Austin Dimeyin, Financial Secretary.

Others are Peter Laboard, Assistant Secretary, Julius Mone, Assistant PRO, Roland Eyetan Organizing Secretary, Toju T. George, Auditor, Felix Omatsola, Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Mebije, Adviser and
Francis Aberuku, Ex-Officio.

Speaking to the National Reformer Newspaper immediately after the inauguration, Engr. Clement Erewa expressed gratitude to all who made it possible for the community to have a peaceful transition against speculations that it may not be possible, he said that the maturity displayed by his people during and after the election and subsequent swearing-in ceremony is a sign of good things that would be happening in the community just as he enjoined his people not to relent in their avowed determination to take the community to the next level.

According to Engr. Engr. Erewa, “our administration will bring in good things, employment, man power development, encouragement of the growth of small medium entrepreneurs , infrastructure amongst others. We will ensure that the peace for which Ubeji is known for will be sustained. I will therefore use this medium to call on members of my executive and the people to join forces with us to move our community forward.”

The immediate past Chairman, Ubeji Community Trust, Mr. Mode Akoma expressed gratitude to God Almighty for his grace on him to successfully hand over to a new executive. He charged his successor to
ensure that everybody, including himself, was carried along in his administration as he cannot do it alone.

According to him, “first of all my advice to them is to know that community job is a thankless job and no matter how successful you may be, nobody would come and say thank you because they see it as your
contribution to the community. So I want to advice them that no matter how difficult the challenges may be, they should see it as working for themselves.” Secondly, there are a lot of new developments that are coming like Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC), SEPLAT, so they should work closely with these companies, be focused so that they would be able to get something good for our people. And I think I am not going to leave them because I am a son of the soil and whenever they come to me for advice and contribution I will willingly do that in the interest of our community.”

Meanwhile, all existing committees, sub-committee structures and company representatives of Ubeji Community have been dissolved with immediate effect. This is contained in a Statement jointly signed by Engr.  Clement Erewa and Mr. Felix Omatsola, Chairman and Publicity Secretary, respectively, Ubeji Community Trust.

The statement added, “it is therefore, necessary for companies, organizations and the general public to direct all their dealings to the names mentioned above for proper development of our community. We shall be open to suggestions and corrections from members of the community.”
