TWELVE UVWIE COUNCILLORS SUSPENDED, ARRESTED, DETAINED OVER ASSAULT OF COLLEAGUE

Twelve councillors of Uvwie Local Government Council who allegedly injured another councillor, Hon. James Emanerame have been suspended, arrested and detained by the Police from Warri Area Command.

According to a resolution of Uvwie Legislative House signed by Hon. Chief Ukwade Rotimi, Leader, Legislative Arm, Uvwie Local Government Council and Mr. Tejere Akpobo, Clerk, Legislative Arm, Uvwie Local Government Council, Effurun, the House sat on Friday, July 12, 2019 and resolved to suspend the twelve for six months “because of the criminal act of breaking and entering of the office of the Leader, physical attack on Hon. James Emanerame.”

The motion for the suspension of the twelve councillors was moved at the sitting by Hon. Gloria Bankitu, deputy Majority Leader and was seconded by Hon. Brume Onyeka.

The statement added, “the suspended members are, Hon. Victor Okoloba, Hon. Efe Ani, Hon. Gracious Agbajor, Hon. Peace Dore, Hon. Enawore Atase, Hon. Pius Egueye, Hon. Akemu Austine, Hon. Aghogho Oghomitse, Hon. Valentine Agbaisi, Hon. Emmanuel Anyan, Hon. Alexander Oboro and Hon. Yokel Emomekeni”

A police source at the Warri Area Command said that the councillors were arrested and detained for attempted murder and grievous bodily harm to Hon. James Emanerame adding that they would be charged to court after full investigations.
