DELTA 2015: EMERHOR PROMISES TO MAKE DELTA STATE A MODEL THROUGH PURPOSEFUL PARTICIPATORY GOVERNANCE

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has assured Deltans that he will make the state a model through purpose driven leadership anchored on participatory governance, centered on private sector initiatives, investors friendly, commitment to hard work and service to all.

He gave the assurance on Wednesday January 21 in Agbor while addressing thousands of enthusiastic crowd of APC party faithful and supporters at the official flag off of his gubernatorial campaign. Emerhor further disclosed that his administration, if elected, will be geared towards empowering the people of Delta State for prosperous life including Agbor communities so as to restore its lost glory earned during the colonial days.

The APC candidate asserted that his government will partner extensively with the local government councils to the effect that apart from their monthly allocation that will be remitted to them in full and timely, government will provide additional funding to ginger economic prosperity at the grassroots by ensuring that the LGAs are fully engaged in people oriented socio-economic activities.

He said LGAs budgets will be worked out in collaboration with the governor’s office to ensure that sixty percent of the total budget each year is allocated to boost Small Scale Businesses (SMEs), infrastructural development, provision of social amenities, vocational training and other forms of skills acquisition programmes that will ensure steady and progressive human capital development, which will in turn create thousands of jobs at the local government levels.

Olorogun Emerhor who is the Chairman of Transcorp Group and Vice-Chairman of Standard Assurance Group disclosed that if elected as Governor of Delta State on February 28, the twenty-five local government areas of the state will be developed through decentralized system of government where each local government area would be made the focal point of development and introduce healthy competition for which prizes shall be awarded to the best LGA to facilitate the overall development of the state at the local levels.

Also speaking, APC Delta State Chairman, Prophet Jones Erhue said May 29, this year has been divinely arranged to end the sixteen years of PDP’s bad governance which has brought untold hardship, acute hunger, joblessness and socio-economic retrogression in Delta State and in all the states where the party currently exhibits despotic leadership. He presented the party’s flag to all candidates who are contesting the 2015 elections at various levels.

Olorogun Emerhor who is also a member of the Order of the Niger (OON), said the APC is the only political party that has the pedigree and socio-economic blue print that will turn around the fortunes of the nation for greatness and urged Deltans and Nigerians to vote for APC in the forthcoming general elections so as to terminate the sixteen years of socio-economic retrogression, misrule and corruption which crumbled all sectors of the Nigerian economy.

The APC Candidate assured the good people of the State that he will tackle poverty to guarantee quality of life, pointing out that “living in life is not just enough but living in it well.” He disclosed that N10 billion Naira (Ten billion Naira) will be disbursed within his first one hundred days in office, if elected, as initial empowerment funds through ACCESS POINTS in the local communities across the state.

The funds, according to the first class banker and insurance executive, will be used to start Small Scale Businesses (SMEs) and also boost the expansion of existing ones, especially in the agricultural sector, Fishery, artisanship and petty trading while experts will be engaged to mentor all beneficiaries so as to enhance productivity, proper management of human and financial resources.
