The leadership of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, has stated that, Taxation is Pivotal and instrumental to National Development.

This was disclosed to newsmen by the state Chairman, Barrister Felix O. Ahonsi in a presentation on “Taxation as an instrument for enhancing internally generated revenue, issues and challenges”, held to mark the association’s 2015 dinner and award night at Da Civic Event Centre Benin City.

Barrister Ahonsi in his welcome address remarked that he was delighted as it was a day set aside by the branch to felicitate with members, friends and well –wisher of the association; adding that, the body is one of the two recognized accounting bodies chartered by the Act to train personals for internally economic development.

“I am delighted to welcome you to the occasion of the 2015 Annual Dinners and Award Ceremony of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN, Edo State Branch. The association is empowered to regulate and train individuals and accountants for the Nigeria economy”, He said.

The chairman further pointed out that, in addressing the issue of corruption in the country, one should consider the role of leadership; adding that, leadership is pivotal to orderliness.

The chairman of the occasion, Sir Peter Odeogho commended the organizer of the award while urging the association to collaborate with media outfits to propagate tax inversion as it will further enhance economic growth, when properly applied effectively.

However, some personalities were rewarded for their immense contribution to the growth of the association and economic reformation.

Speaking, one of the recipients of the meritorious award, chief Henry O. Akpata JP, a pioneer chairman ANAN, thanked and commended the association for her sustainability; noting that, it was a welcome development to reward individuals who have contributed positively to impact on the lives of members and the national growth.

Other recipients of the award and honour for deserving personalities were the head of service, Edo State, Mr. Jerry Obazele, The PM & Acct. Gen Edo State, Mr. Isaac Ebose, Chief Gabriel O. Akpata, Mr. David Agbons Ugiagbe, Prof. Okoye Arinse Eric and many others respectively.
