The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State, Chief Hon. Francis Oyovwikigho Okan, has congratulated his boss, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on his victory at the Supreme Court, saying that the victory was a well deserved win.

He described the judgement of the Supreme Court as a victory for democracy, adding that the judgement has also given hope to the hopeless.

Okan, who spoke to journalists in Warri, said the Supreme Court judgment affirming Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as the governor of Delta State, was a victory for the persons that came to cast their vote for him.

The governor’s aide, however pointed out that those who did not come out to cast their votes in the last general election were the ones who gave the opposition party the audacity to challenge the election at the tribunal.

He therefore called on those who have voter’s cards to come out in their numbers and participate in the next general elections, because according to him, the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed Oborevwori as Governor of Delta State was made possible because of the elated people that came out to vote during the March 18, 2023 election.

“The supreme court judgement of 19th January 2024, is a resounding judgment, a judgment that gives hope to the hopeless, that puts Nigeria again in the forefront. It is a judgment that has spoken that there is still hope in Nigeria and that the truth can prevail. This judgment is a resounding judgment. It is a victory for democracy. The judgment has spoken so many positive languages and has spoken even to those who are problems of this country.

“This judgment has given victory to who deserve it and to whom the people actually came out to cast their vote for. This judgment has lightened their burden because all this while they have been worried. The souls of the people that casted their vote for for Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, have been lifted with this judgment.

“I want to congratulate my governor. I want to congratulate you again for this victory. I want to congratulate the PDP. I want to congratulate all those who stood by our Governor both in prayers and physical stand. I want to actually thank all of you. God will keep blessing you people.

“This victory also has empowered people who cast their vote for our Governor. This victory now has given them the chance to beat their chest in the next election to woo more persons for the Governor because they are winners. We are all winners.

“I want to thank all those who have put themselves down to watch carefully what the judgment will pronounce. We thank God it pronounced the right thing and the state is at peace,” Chief Okan said.
