The 30th Inter-House Sports Athletic Competition of St. Gotate Schools, Obiaruku has successfully held with dignitaries from all works of life in attendance at Akashiede Girls College playground Obiaruku.

143515566005_13Delivering his address, the principal, Pastor Eledu Lucky remarked that learning in the school should not be restricted to the cognitive and affective domains but also include the psychomotor domains, adding that parents should support their children and wards fully in order to enable them participate.

A total of 4 houses comprising Blue, Green, Orange and Pink Houses (with Mr. Odigwe Ugochuku, Hon. Ndudi Osakunih, Rev. (Mrs) Nmalagu and Sir Ogbonegbu as Patrons respectively) battled for the 1st spot.

Some of the sporting activities that occurred on the said day includes: school house relays; 50m,100m, 200m, 800m and 1500m races; high jump, lime race e.t.c, as dance presentation from students spiced up the day’s event.

Dignitaries present to grace the occasion includes: Pastor Charles Ojie, Chief Inspector of Education Ukwuani local government area and Sir M.E.N Ogonegbu.

During a chat with journalists, the executive Director of the institution, Bishop Nmalagwu Greatman, who is also the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Religious Matters opined that sporting are no longer as vibrant like before.

Bishop Greatman however stated that the school, considering the importance of sports, set aside the 1st and 2nd periods of Wednesday for sporting  activities.

He thanked the CIE and other guests for finding time to grace the event and went on to commend all those that contributed to the success of the occasion.
