A gang of robbers, today, shot dead a man simply identified as Alhaji in the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State and cart away the sum of Seven Hundred Thousand Naira.

It was learnt that the deceased, Alhaji was on his way from one of the new generation banks when he was attacked.

The gunmen had trailed and robbed the victim the said sum after he left bank at Jakpa road.

It was gathered that the victim was shot dead by the gunmen for daring to scare his attackers with a dagger.

An eyewitness who craved anonymity said the victim was trailed from the bank by the gunmen from Jakpa junction road before he was killed at PTI road.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the report.

DSP Onovwakpoyeya said, “The story is true and investigation is ongoing.”
