The revolve of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration to sustain free education and reposition technical schools in Delta State will pave the way for increased enrolment of students and skill development with the attendant benefits, the former Executive Secretary, State Primary Education Board (SPEB), Henry Ofa, has said.

Speaking during the interactive session with newsmen in Asaba, Ofa commended Governor Okowa for the sustenance of the policy, despite the economic challenges which led some states like Ekiti and Osun to introduce school levies.

Ofa noted that as a critical component of his Smart Agenda, the Governor has demonstrated his seriousness to capacity building and entrepreneurial development and ultimately build a new regime of wealth creators.

“The commitment of the Governor towards the strengthening of technical education as manifested in the ongoing rehabilitation of Agbor, Sapele and Ofagbe Technical schools is indeed a cheering news to education stakeholders, who truly appreciate the value of technical education to industrial and technological advancement of any nation”, he said.

“Besides the approval for the building of the secondary schools in Asaba, Agbor and Ughelli is a further demonstration of government’s commitment to accommodate a greater percentage of students that have been affected by the handover of some schools to missionary owners by the immediate administration.

While calling for the supports of all Deltans towards the realization of the smart agenda of Okowa’s administration, Ofa said that with the composition of the various boards like SUPEB and PPEB as well as the appointment of the commissioners both at the basic and higher levels, the government is already on the path of full realization of it objectives in the education sector.

Meanwhile, Dr. Henry Ofa has commended the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for the financial assistance to the Camp 74 fish farmers in Asaba following the devastation of the fish ponds by flood recently.
