The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun is poised to provide
conducive learning environment for students to excel in their various chosen courses just as the onus rests on them (students) to make wise use of available opportunities to enable them come out in good grades to contribute to the overall development of the nation.

This was disclosed by Mr. Avuakporeta J. Orukele, AG. Principal/Chief Executive, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun during the combined matriculation ceremony for new full time and ICE part-time students 2015/2016 academic session, he said that the Institute has over the years been a hub of petroleum expertise with a reputation for providing high quality technical education and petroleum related disciplines.

According to Mr. Orukele, “P.T.I has since continued to develop
competent technical manpower for the nation’s oil and gas sector. I am proud to say that P.T.I is a household name in the oil industry as
there is no oil company without P.T.I graduate in its employ. You
should therefore pride yourself very high above students from other
higher institutions as the Institute is well equipped with a team of
professionals and state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none
in the Sub-Sahara Africa.”

Mr. Orukele further disclosed that management of the Institute frowns at indiscipline, social vices and deviant behaviours, adding, “as new students, you are expected to be disciplined, management therefore, does not encourage any type of social vices and deviant behaviours such as drug abuse and peddling, cultism, examination malpractice and unlawful protests. Let me warn against unlawful protest on campus. It is an act of indiscipline. No students should take laws into his or her hands, let me state that management has zero tolerance to these social vices. You must shun cultism and report any suspected student(s).”

While enjoining the new students to take advantage of the health and sporting facilities of the Institute, the Ag. Principal/Chief
Executive, PTI said that management encourages students unionism, adding, “management encourage students’ unionism whose leadership is expected to collaborate with management to achieve convivial atmosphere on campus and to move the Institute forward. Let us join hands to showcase the PTI as a true Centre of Excellence.”

He then enjoined them to be innovative and focused in order to justify the confidence reposed in them with the offer of admission into the Institute, adding, “1,507 of you are favoured ones admitted out of 6,413 who applied for admission to pursue Higher and National Diploma and Certificates Programmes in the 2015/2016 academic session. I also wish to advise you to be innovative, focused and work very hard to justify the confidence reposed in you.”

High point of the ceremony was the administration of matriculation
oath by the Ag. Principal/Chief Executive, PTI, Effurun on the 1,507
new full time and ICE part-time students.
