The leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State have been called upon to unite members of the party so as to capture the state come 2019 general elections.
This appeal was made by Engr. Matthew Onokpasa, aspirant to the Delta State House of Assembly to represent Ughelli North Constituency 1 on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in an interview with the Urhobo Voice in Warri,  he said that in order for APC to win the 2019 election in Delta state, APC needs to put it’s house in order, adding that the lingering crisis will only spell doom for the party come 2019.
Engr. Onokpasa said that  as a young and vibrant member of the party all hands must be on deck to end the crisis between the two factions calling on Comrade Adams Oshiomole who he said has started well,  to quickly intervene settle the differences between factions. .
According to Engr. Onokpasa, “Comrade Adams Oshiomole has started well as the National Chairman of APC. He needs to continue the tempo by making sure that he unites the members of the party in the state. This is the only way we can wrestle power from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP)come 2019.
Speaking on the reason why he wants to go to the State House of Assembly, Engr Onokpasa disclosed that those representing Ughelli North constituency 1 in the past have failed to deliver dividends of democracy to people of the constituency, adding that since the ruling People’s Democratic Party took over the reigns of power in 1999, the people have become poorer with no visible signs of development across the constituency.
Engr. Onokpasa who holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal Universitiy of Technology, Akure and a Master’s degree in Business Administration added that he is running for the Ughelli North constituency 1 because he has a passion to serve his people with efficient representation if given the opportunity.
He added that if given the opportunity to serve his people at the State House of Assembly it will no longer be business as usual because he will make sure that he attracts people oriented projects to his constituency.
Engr. Onokpasa added that he will ensure that all government schools in his constituency will be ICT compliant if given the mandate saying that the well-being of his people will be a top priority.
He promised that he will also ensure that wealth creation through revolutionised agriculture and skill acquisition programmes for both the youths and adults.
Engr. Onokpasa spoke further,  “the projects we are going to attract to our people are projects that are people oriented. They are not going to be like what we are seeing today. Before we bring any project to our people, we will have to interact with them and make sure the projects are what they want. We are going to do this by having constituency offices around the whole area and there would be regular constituency briefing.”
He noted, “we are also going to take care of the health of our people by making medical services available to the people. A lot of people in the villages do not know their health status as we speak right now. And this is so because they do not have access to free medical care. We are going to change all that when we come on board.”
