The Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse 111 has rolled out a 10-day Programme of activities to mark his Second year Coronation Anniversary just as the Itsekiri Traditional Council has scored him high over positive changes he injected into the Kingdom in the last two years.

Speaking to journalists at the Olu’s Palace in Warri on the activities lined up for the second coronation anniversary, High Chief Oma Eyewuoma, Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom affirmed that the 21st traditional ruler of Iwere Kingdom, HRM Atuwatse III had, within two years on the throne of his forefathers injected positive changes into the mode of administration of Warri Kingdom with the goal of propelling the Kingdom into progress and development noting that “change is inevitable for the much-needed socioeconomic development”.

High Chief Eyewuoma who was surrounded by other notable high Chiefs of Warri Kingdom said, “our progressive Ogiame is brilliant, intelligent, very well exposed, humble and above all, has the love of his people. In every sphere of life, there are bound to be challenges which are not different in our case, as expected in all human endeavours.”

The Ologbotsere added, “as we all move, following his (Ogiame’s) vision, we are quite in support of the positive changes in all he has been trying to do. In all his steps, the journey has been successful”.

The Ologbotsere then called on all Iwere (Itsekiri) sons and daughters at home and in the Diaspora to continue to mobilise support for the “progressive ideas” of HRM Atuwatse III in the overall interest of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality.

The Ologbotsere disclosed that the 2nd Coronation Anniversary celebration which kicks off on Friday, August 18, 2023 with praise worship at the Palace Church auditorium was “aimed at assessing ourselves with a view to knowing where the Iweres are presently and where we ought to be”.

He said that all the activities slated for the 10-day celebration would take place at the Palace(Aghofen) and Ode Itsekiri(Big Warri), the ancestral home of Iwere nation, he listed them to include traditional homage paying to the Olu of Warri, special Iwere Choir ministration, conferment of chieftaincy titles on deserving sons and daughters of Warri Kingdom, Ghigho Aghofen as well as a special thanksgiving service to round off the programmes on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
