Supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Delta state have been called upon to embark on aggressive grassroot-based campaign ahead of the general elections.

This call was made by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Goveror of Delta State weekend in Koko, WARRI North Local Government Area  at the Delta PDP political rally.

He said his ambition to seek re-election was to ensure peace and equity in the power rotation as agreed by the people in the state.

According to Dr. Okowa, “my second term ambition is not just for Okowa but for peace and equity in power rotation in the state.”

Dr. Okowa said that his administration had done so much adding that his re-election would enable him to consolidate on the achievement so far made, adding, “I want you people to move from one house to the other campaigning for the PDP. I will also want you to vote for all the PDP candidates in Delta and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the presidential level.”

The Governor spoke further, “In the last one year the state revenue has increased and that has also translated into massive infrastructural development in the state. We have been able to construct three roads in Koko in the last one and we want to consolidate on these achievements.  Above all, I urged you to pray to the Almighty God because we cannot do anything without Him.”

Earlier, the deputy governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro urged the people to vote enmasse for the party in the general election.

Also speaking, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, Delta State chairman of the Pepoles Democratic Party( PDP)chairman in Deltasaid that Dr. Okowa deserved a second term in view of the established principle of equity in power rotation in the state.

He urged the people to vote massively for the party from the presidential level to the House of Assembly.

Mr Solomon Funkekeme, Director-General, PDP Campaign Committee in Delta urged the people to get their Permanent Voters Card to be eligible to vote on election days.

Also, Mr Isaac Wiliki, the Chairman, PDP in Warri North assured that the people would vote massively for the ruling party in Delta.

The campaign train thereafter moved to Sapele in continuation of the campaign.

It will be recalled that the state government flagged-off the campaign on Friday at Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

In Sapele, Okowa said his administration had done substantial number of roads in Sapele and assured that he would address the road challenges in the area.

He urged them to vote massively for the party to enable his government to continue with the good work it had started.

The governor urged the party loyalists to canvass to those in the opposite parties and woo them, adding, “tell them to move to the righteous side where good things are happening.”

The governor called on opponents to engage in campaigns and tell the people what they can do rather than holding nocturnal meetings and be scheming on how to snatch ballot boxes and engage in electoral malpractice.

He added, “we promised to dualise the road, it has been done and will be commissioned soon, we promised to complete the Sapele market, it has been commissioned, the Sapele Technical College has been revamped and in the next four years, we will do more, our opponents will not campaign, they will be at home planning bad things, but, they will not succeed, we will get unprecedented number of votes in Sapele and all over the state; the opposition should come out and campaign.”
