Governor Okowa observed that the panacea to successful marriage is rooted.in the Biblical book of Ephesians where wives were admonished to be submissive to their husbands and the husbands charged to “love the wife as Jesus Christ loved the world.”

“You must stand by your wife no matter the situation, love means kindness, you must not be proud,” the Governor said at the impressive ceremony which was also attended by Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, former Governor Dieyepreye Alamieyesegha, representatives of some state governors.and men of all walks of life at Effurun Delta State.

According to Governor Okowa, for marriage to stand the test of time, the couple must be committed to each other, asserting, “as long as you are committed to one another, stay together and pray together, God will bless your marriage.”

He congratulated the father of the groom, Pa Clark who he described as “someone that is respected in this state and nation-wide.”

Earlier, during the solemnization of the marriage at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Effurun, Rev. Fr. Ambrose Oghenejode said God ordained marriage is that between a man and a woman saying, “today, we are not talking about same sex marriage but a union between a man and woman, same sex marriage is a bad politics.”

He urged couples to bring up their children with the fear of God, adding, “marriage is indissoluble because Jesus said, what God has joined together, no man or woman can put asunder.”

He used the occasion to call on Deltans to continuously pray for Governor Okowa to succeed reiterating, “the mind of the church is to pray for you.(Governor Okowa) to be able to manage ethnic rivalry and move the state forward, Deltans should pray for the Governor, tell the Governor the truth, support him so that he can develop the state to the desired goal God has destined the state for.”
