Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Friday expressed sadness over reported death of former Inspector General of Police, IGP (rtd) Alh. Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie, Sardaunan Katsina, Garkuwan Hausa.The Governor in a condolence message to the family, Katsina State Government, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, Police Management Team and the entire Officers and Men of the Force noted that the late IGP lived a most fulfilled life and imparted his community, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, his primary constituency, where he left giant strides as the longest serving Inspector General of Police from August 1993 to 1999.

“As the 9th Indigenous Inspector General of Police, the late Coomassie was a thorough bred officer whose services to the nation will remain indelible in the anals of history as he led the Nigeria Police Force from the military era into civil democracy and handed over on May 29, 1999.

“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, i mourn the exit of former Inspector General of Police, IGP (rtd) Alh. Ibrahim Ahmadu Coomassie, Sardaunan Katsina, Garkuwan Hausa.

“The Governor prays that the almighty God will grant the soul of the departed a good rest and comfort his family.”
