The Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has appealed to Deltans to always go for regular medical checkup for them to know their health status.

Gov. Okowa made this appeal today in Ozoro during the flag-off exercise of the second phase of the free eye screening, tests, glasses and surgery organized by the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council for the people of Isoko North and South local government.

He commended the Chairman for his right thinking minds and ideas towards bettering the lives of his people, saying “Despite the recession in the country, the Chairman has been able to partner with private investors in initiating programmes that will better the lives of his people.

“I thanked the various private investors who been have partnering with the Council Chairman, (particularly the Managing Director of BestCrest International Consulting Limited) towards bettering the lives of our people. I also urged well meaningful Sons and Daughters of Isoko North to contribute their own quota to the success of this programme to make it a regular event than just a yearly event.” Gov. Okowa said.

He however called on other local government Chairmen in the state to emulate the Isoko North local government chairman, urging the beneficiaries to make use of this opportunity, just as he commended the leader of the team from the African Restore Sight Initiative, Dr. Ernest Ogbedo and the good people of Isoko North for their peaceful conduct in the last two years of his administration.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon Emmanuel Egbabor had earlier on in his speech reel out his administration achievements to include: “rehabilitation of internal roads within Ozoro and other parts of the local government, ensuring peaceful resolution in all community issues, establishment of mechanic village, construction of 50 housing units for staff and other stakeholders in the local government area, treatment of over 1500 persons with various eyes defect, distribution of over 750 glasses, surgical operations to the beneficiaries under the 1st phase of the free eye screening, tests, glasses and surgery treatment”.

In a related development, the Governor also commissioned the reconstructed Old Ozoro/Oleh road, were the Chairman of Isoko North state the significance of the road urging the state government to release more funds to the contractors handling Owhelogbo/Abbi road to enable them complete the road on time, and also request for the dualization of the NDC to Hospital road to make it conform with the growing population as well as improve on the aesthetics of the town.
