By Francis Sadhere

Former Delta State Commissioner for Education and All Progressives Congress (APC) leader, Dr. (Mrs.) Veronica Ogbuagu has expressed her condolences to the family of late Senator Francis Spanner Okpozo.

Ogbuagu who spoke from USA described the late senator as “an eagle that soared far above the level of the ordinary and  conventional politicians.”

She said the news of the death of Sen. Okpozo came to her as a rude shock but noted that as painful as it may feel, death will always come when humans least expected it.

She noted that the life of selfless struggle for the betterment of the loves of the people remained with late Senator Okpozo even at his old age till he eventually died.

She said, “He saw the numerous problems in the party after the 2015 elections, and took a bold step to move out of his comfort zone and called for a change in the party structure. He fought for the repositioning of the party, a change in the political leadership of the party before his death.”

She called on all stakeholders in Delta APC to give Okpozo their last respect by toeing the line of his vision and struggle which is giving the party back to the people.

The former commissioner also sent her sympathy to the family, elders, leaders and all our supporters (APC), the Isoko nation, Deltans and Nigerians in general.

She said, “To Sen. Okpozo, I say adieu! May your gentle soul, and the souls of the faithful departed rest in perfect peace. Amen.

“We pray for unfailing strength from God to mourn the lose of a great leader.

“For APC as a party to grow in Delta State, and prepare to win elections in 2019 and beyond, we need honest and courageous men and women to break down many brick walls built in and around the party.

“No party ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined.”
