Deltans have been called upon to give Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State the much needed support and cooperation that would enable him deliver on his electoral promises based on his SMART Agenda programme to the benefit of all.

This call was made by Mr. Kelvin Ogbodu, Coordinator, Okowability Prosperity Network (O.P.N) and Chief Executive Officer, Ogbodu Foundation in a ceremony in Effurun, he said that the governor meant well for Deltans with his well articulated laid out SMART Agenda programme aimed at ameliorating the plight of the people.

The Coordinator, Okowability Prosperity Network (O.P.N) disclosed that the governor who is a thorough bred and well grounded in governance as he occupied various political positions from grass root to becoming governor has placed him in a vantage point to understand the yearnings of the people, saying that this made him to come out with campaign promises as encompassed in his SMART Agenda programme to turn around the fortunes of the people through overall rapid infrastructural development of the state, empowerment of the youth through various youth empowerment programmes, Micro Credit scheme to rapidly grow the states’ economy among others.

Mr. Ogbodu further disclosed that some of these programmes are already yielding results as some beneficiaries of the youth empowerment programme have graduated and given starter packs while steps are in advanced stage to take in more for training and subsequently empowered, adding that the Delta State Micro, Small & Medium Development Agency(DMSMA) has not relented in giving out interest free loans to small and medium entrepreneur with a view to grow the state economy through the agriculture sector, buying and selling as well as service providers.

On infrastructural development, Chief Executive Officer, Ogbodu Foundation said that as part of the administration urban renewal and development efforts in accordance with the State Governments’ plan to link rural areas to urban cities as well as give roads in the state a facelift, the State Executive Council recently approved the construction, rehabilitation and expansion of five roads in the state.

He added, “these roads includes access road to Beneku Community, Owhelogbo/Abbi Road, review of work in Okere-Urhobo Community Roads, Section 1 of the Ugbomro Road and Old Abraka Road in Owa”.

He further disclosed that before now there are many other on-going infrastructural development projects in Asaba, Agbor, Sapele among others, adding, “I am using this opportunity to call on Deltans to support the Senator Okowa led administration to enable him deliver democracy dividends to all.”

According to Mr. Ogbodu, “We all know that the nations’ economy is almost in comatose position because of slump in global oil prices, this has negatively affected the state government’s revenue from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), in spite of the lean resources, Senator Okowa has kept faith by being among the few states that does not owe state civil servants salaries and still goes ahead to implement campaign promises.”

He then called on Senator Okowa to remain focused just as he prayed God to give him wisdom to pilot aright the affairs of the state for the overall benefit of the people.
