Princ Kingsley Oberuruaria, national president, Urhobo Development Association a.k.a Urhobo Monitoring and Development Group (UMDG) has called on Olorogun Moses Taiga, President General, Urhobo Progress Union(UPU)Worldwide to set up a committee to help recover a transformer meant for Urhobo House, Uvwiamuge, Agbarho.

Prince Oberuruaria who is contesting for the House of Representatives to represent Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency made the call in an interview with the Urhobo Voice in Effurun, he disclosed that Urhobo Monitoring and Development Group in a bid to foster development in Urhobo nation moved to procure five transformers from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2012 which were installed in five junction in Orerokpe, Sapele, Agbon, Uvwie with the fifth one to be installed in UPU House, Uvwiamuge but wasn’t as a result of some logistics issue and was kept in the country home of late Chief Patrick Aziza in Adagbrassa, Okpe Local Government Area for safe keeping.

According to the House of Representatives hopeful, “when it was time to move the transformer to be installed in UPU House, we ran into brick wall with James Onakpoma after the demise of Chief Aziza until well meaning Okpe leaders and stakeholders intervened. But to our chagrin, the transformer has been changed. The one my group dropped there was aluminum in color but the one there now is green colour.”

He then called on Olorogun Taiga to intervene with a view to get to the root of who changed the transformer, saying, ” the act of changing the transformer is sabotage against Urhobo nation, anyone found culpable should be treated as enemy of Progress of Urhobo nation.”

Prince Oberuruari disclosed that if given the mandate to represent the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, he would work more for the overall development of the area in particular, Urhobo nation and Delta State in general.

He added, “I and my group was able to get transformers to boost and stabilize electricity supply to my people when we were not in political positions, we shall do more to better the lots of our people when given the political advantage by being elected into positions, I am using this opportunity to call on my people to give me their mandate to represent them in the House of Representatives to enable me bring in more democracy dividends.

Contacted, Mr. Onakpoma James said that sometime in 2015, he was called to assist in moving the transformer to Uvwiamuge adding that he did with the assistance of the vigilante group and dropped it at Uvwiamuge for installation.

Mr. Onakpoma disclosed that after about two weeks, he was called again by a top ranking member of the Urhobo Progress Union(UPU) that the installation of the transformer could not be carried out, adding, “so I called up the vigilant group again to help move it back to Chief Aziza Country home in Adagbrassa.

According to Mr. Onakpoma, “we dropped it there (Chief Aziza house)with the security man only to be called up again recently that the transformer was needed but to our surprise, it has been changed. We found out that the security man there when we dropped the transformer has left the place, I dropped my phone number with the new security man to let me know when he gets in touch with the one that has left. We left the transformer in the custody of the security man that has left, that man has to tell us what happened to the transformer we left in his custody.”
