Kenneth Nwaomucha, ex-international footballer has emerged chairman of Delta State Football Association (DFA).

Nwaomucha emerged in an election of the Assocition that took place at the Indoors Sports-hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba where he had a landslide victory.

Nwaomucha who is also the current Chairman Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria(YSFON), Delta chapter polled 26 votes against his opponent, Mr Michael Aniemeka who got a vote.

The election also saw former Warri Wolves chairman Steve Cole emerged the new Vice Chairman, with Azuka Ogosi returning as the Association’s secretary.

Other persons also elected into the board includes Harrison Ocholor, former Chairman, Sports Writers Assocition of Nigeria (SWAN),Delta State, Mr. David Egho, Neville Bekederemor, Azuka Chiemeka, current chairman, Delta State SWAN, Lucky Sunday, and former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje.

The election was supervised by Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Chairman of Chairmen of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)who was represented by Mr. Emmanuel Iba, Zonal Coodinator, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)South South zonal coordinator.

Mr Emmanuel Iba who is also Chairman of Akwa Ibom Football Association was assisted by Edo State Football Association chairman.

In his inaugural speech after being sworn in by Barrister Chinenye Amujiogu, Nwaomucha expressed his appreciation to God for the successful election, he added, ” I also thank the president of NFF Mr. Amaju Pinnick, the Delta Sports cCommission Chairman, Chief Tonobok Okowa and all football stakeholders for this great day. I offer myself to serve as Chairman of this great association with a promise that grassroots football and the state league would be made viable and back to reckoning as it has been dormant for sometime now”

Speaking further, he said, ” there is no faction in Delta football. Football is not a one man game, you can see that the board is made up of five ex -players so we will reach out to the aggrieved side and bring them together to work for a common goal. We will also have a stakeholders conference soon to harmonize our football”

Hon. Nwaomucha takes over the leadership of the association from Ex International Austin Jay Jay Okocha as the tenure of the newly inaugurated board of the Delta State Football Association will run for four years.
