OKOWA’S 7YRS. AS GOVERNOR OF DELTA: HARVEST OF BAD ROADS ACROSS THE STATE
OGHENETEJIRI NYERHOVWO
Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State recently marked seven years as governor of the oil rich state but there seems to be nothing on ground in terms of roads in spite of the so called nick name of “Road Master” some praise singers call him.
Our camera captured so many bad roads across in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.
Some of the roads are the Afiesere Junction, along the East West Express Road, Ughelli, Enerhen Police Station Road, by Urhobo College Fence, Effurun, Udu Road, near the Express Junction, Uti Road, Effurun, Sokoh Estate Road, Effurun, Effurun Round About and the Road beside Union Bank on the East West Express Road, Ughelli.
Some motorist who spoke condemned the Okowa’s administration for turning a blind eye to roads in parts of Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts.
One Mr. Okeremeke Oghenenovo, who uses Udu Road frequently said, “the bad road is giving us problems, it slows down our business which in turn affect our income and as you know, times are hard. There is so much traffic, we waist so much time going through the bad portions, our cars damage quickly, ball joints, shock absorbers, springs go bad often.”
Another man, Mr. Uche Okeke, a Keke rider has this to say, “we dey hear say Okowa na Road Master, but we wey dey ride Keke for Warri, Udu and Effurun, we nor dey see the road wey he do pop. Our Keke don spoil finish, we nor fit pass Uti Road, nobody dey pass Enerhen Police Station Road again and Sokoh Estate Road wey be link road to pass, the place don scatter finish. Abeg make una help us tell Okowa make him come do the roads make hungry nor kill us finish.”
It’s a clarion call on Governor Okowa by the people to come to their rescue also at the Effurun Road About.
Chief Kelegbe Omaghomi has this to say, “I was unfortunate last Friday, June 3, 2022 caught up in a gridlock at the Effurun Road About, I spent almost four hours there, people from the Sapele axis were forced to do a detour to pass through Aziza Road through Ohore and Adagbrassa-Ugolo villages to connect Eku/ Effurun Road. There were still some very bad portions on that stretch through those in Okpe Local Government Area. Okowa should act fast to fix these bad portions to ease the stress on Deltans.
