The Nigerian army has been called to intensify its efforts towards curbing insecurity issues related with the difficult terrains of the Niger Delta.

The call was made by the Member Representing Warri North constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Diden when he hosted the send forth and welcoming of the Commanding Officer, 19th Battalion, Nigerian Army, Koko, Col. Aminu Umar and Col. G. Suru respectively Thursday, at Sapele.

Hon. Diden who commended the outgoing commanding officer for sustaining relative peace and security in the areas of oil bunkering, oil pipeline vandalism, cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery, urged the new commanding officer to intensify efforts towards fighting crime in the area noting that the people in the area are peace loving people who are ever ready to cooperate with security agencies.

He said the send forth party was a way of saying thank you to Col. Umar and indeed the Nigerian Army for their jobs well done in Koko, Sapele, Oghara, and environs.

Responding, the outgoing Commanding Officer, said he was overwhelmed by the warm reception and cooperation of the people in the area. He however called on well meaning Nigerians to emulate Hon. Michael diden who has empowered people therefore ensuring that the streets are free from crimes.

In a similar development, in appreciation of their outstanding works in curbing insecurity, the outgoing commanding officers of the 3rd Battalion Col. Ime Okon Bassey and the 19th Battalion, Col. Aminu umar were also hosted by concerned people of Sapele headed by Mr. Tony Erewa, the Chief Executive Officer of Alacarte Catering and Events Services.
