Medical laboratory scientist associations chairman Federal Medical Center (FMC) Yenagoa Bayelsa Stat, Mr Eni-Yimini Solomon Agoro has commended the entire management of Nigeria Association of Hospital and Administrative pharmacists (NAHAP) in organizing its maiden NAHPA week
in Bayelsa State as so unique and so educative, while urging NAHAP to organize it yearly as other states which he said would go a long way in sensiting members and Bayeslans of proper use of medication,
stressing that several persons have died or maimed as a result of lack of knowledge to administer proper medication.

Mr Agoro Made the assertions at the occasion of NAHAP while feeding questions from newsmen. Mr. Agoro tasked the general public to always consult pharmacist and other accredited health personnel for proper administration of drugs, for the issues of duplication of Association NAHAP with pharmaceutical council of Nigeria (PCN). Agoro noted that the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria is establish with the confine of the law in check-making the advancement of the practice of pharmacists in Nigeria with a governing board while the NAHAP is a professional Association.

The pandemic scourge of HIV & AIDS in Bayelsa State, the renowned medical laboratory scientist said the spread of HIV &AIDS is still very high, compared to other states in Nigeria, Bayelsa state is rated
the third state that have the highest infection, while Sagbama Local Government area is rated the highest of HIV & AIDs infected local Government Area, from confirmed report. Sagbama is rampart due to the
fact of influx of persons (visitors) to the Local Government. Mr. Agoro appealed to the general public to have protected sex, especially with visitors by using the condom, he equally said Benue state is
rated the highest in the infection of HIV & AIDS, while tasking parents and guidance to have serious counseling and consciousness.

Activities of medical laboratory scientist in Bayelsa State especially, the federal Medical centre, he said, the Association have imparted greatly in the state, through several advocacy programmes and
other developmental strides in serving mankind, stressing that several programmes are in the pipeline of execution for the wellbeing of members and the general public.

Earlier, the chairman of Nigeria Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists (NAHAP) Bayelsa state pharmacist (Dr) Lawrence Akerele while answering questions from newsmen in Yenagoa
during NAHAP week said, the general public should not risk their life, buy drugs only from registered pharmacies, also urging the public not to use old prescriptions to buy drugs for new illness, unless
authorized by health care provider and among others.

The NAHAP maiden edition presented several advocacy programmes, such as road Walk, medical examinations, workshops, several reputable personalities from the health sector presented papers, which was so interactive.
