The Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Okuokoko, Rev. Fr. Sylvanus Oyemike, has urged mothers in the country to rededicate themselves to the task of rebuilding the nation.

Rev. Fr. Oyemike in his Homily at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Osubi on Sunday March 30th 2014 said that as the world marks Mothers day, Nigerian mothers should give their all for the rebuilding of the nation.

The clergy held that women had enormous power to make or mar the development of the country, imploring mother’s all over the country to make sacrifices for the nation.

Rev. Fr. Oyemike said that; “Our country is passing through a lot of challenges at the moment. Let our mothers move this nation out of darkness and bring us to light.”

He also said; “I want to urge our mothers to rebuild our nation, our society, and our communities and rebuild the church. Our mothers should work on their children. Our mothers should work hard to eradicate corruption from our society. Mothers are nation   builders and it is my appeal today to our mothers to stand out and rebuild our nation.”

He added that; “Our mothers must take the pains to train their children because our society is changing so much. We must make sacrifices for this nation.”

According to him, God do not punish people with children, adding that; “when God said go into the world and multiply, it is not in terms of children but the kingdom of God. Let the light of God shine on us. Mothers, let us be a light to our children.”

“Shun false value; do not complain about bad economy; sell your wrappers if need be to give education to your children,” he stated.
