PTI POSITIONED TO KEEP PACE WITH TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT—ORUKELE

The Petroleum Training Institute (PPTI), Effurun is properly positioned to develop corresponding mechanism to foster requisite skills that will keep pace with employment demands as technology advances just as the management has warned matriculating students to stay clear of social vices.
This was disclosed by Mr. Avuakporeta Jacob Orukele, Acting Principal/Chief Executive of Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun during the matriculation ceremony for new Industrial Continuing Education (ICE)part-time students 2014/2015 academic session.
He said that government has empowered the Institute through the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Content Development (NOGID) Act 2010 as well as the
proposed Petroleum Industry Bill(PIB) local content to help build local capacity and value addition to the national economy.
Mr. Orukele further disclosed that in an attempt to realize this objective, the Federal Government used the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) to equip the Institute with state-of-the-art facilities to develop the required technical manpower needed by the oil and gas sector.
According to Mr. Orukele “As technology continues to advance, the Institute will also develop corresponding mechanism that would foster the requisite skills to keep pace with employment demands, adding in realization of this objective, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) equipped the PTI with state-of-the-art facilities to develop the required technical manpower needed by the oil and gas sector. Besides, the Institute is well equipped with a team of professionals to develop fit for the purpose students.”
The Acting Principal/Chief Executive of PTI then charged the students to take their academic work serious, saying that they were the fortunate few that got admission out of the lot that sought it, he further charged them to steer clear of social vices, examination malpractice, protest and other acts that may be deemed as breeching their matriculation oath.
Mr. Orukele added,” you must be disciplined. Management does not encourage any type of social vices and deviant behaviours such as drug abuse and peddling, cultism, examination malpractice an unlawful protest, let me state categorically that unlawful protest is forbidden for “it is an act of indiscipline”. No student should take laws into his or her hands. Any student caught or involved in unlawful protest on campus is deemed to have breech the matriculation oath, and severe penalties will be meted out to such student(s). PTI has zero tolerance to any of these social vices.”
Six hundred and twenty (620) students matriculated at the ceremony.
