Okowa is God sent – Delta Speaker

The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya on Tuesday reacted to the alleged abduction and killing of the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Uku, Obi Akaeze Ofulue the III by Fulani herdsmen, saying the Delta State Government will take “appropriate action”
Igbuya who spoke in Asaba not only condemned the murder of the monarch but said “the government is committed to protecting the people”.
“This highly provocative act poses a great threat to peace and security. Deltans and non Deltans must choose a better path” he said.
Protesters under the auspices of Anioma Security Watch Network (ASWN) stormed the Delta State House of Assembly to vent their displeasure over the murder of the monarch and the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state.
They urged the Delta State Government to provide a permanent place for the Fulani herdsmen.
Addressing the protesters, the speaker urged them to shun violence.
“I understand the issues but you must shun violence. I’ll continue to encourage and support all efforts to prevent crisis in the state” he said.
Igbuya promised to present the issue of the Fulani herdsmen and other grievances to Governor Okowa.
In another development, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Monday Igbuya Tuesday afternoon described Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as God sent.
“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is here to develop Delta State” Igbuya was quoted as saying.
Receiving delegates of the First Didactic Young Star Summit, Igbuya praised Okowa for mapping programmes aimed at making the people independent and prosperous.
He appealed to the people to support the administration of Governor Okowa.
“Yesterday, we depended on oil, today; there is the need to look beyond oil. Please encourage your parents to pay taxes. We need the money to look after you. We need the money to develop the state” he added.
