…as Egbabor signs MoU with Nefkon

The Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Council, Hon. Emmanuel EgbaboEgbabor, is set to construct 50 housing units for its staff and other stakeholders on a public private partnership (PPP) arrangement in Ozoro, headquarters of the local government.

This was made known yesterday by the chairman, Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor during the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the partnering firm, Nefkon Nigeria Limited at the conference hall in his office.

While signing the MoU at a ceremony attended by management staff as well as the Executive members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE), the council boss explained that while the council provides the land and other strategic support, Nefkon would provide the funding for the project.

According to the chairman, the houses would consist of 30 units of two bedroom and 20 units of three bedroom bungalows.

The project is expected to be completed in six months time from the day of commencement.

Hon. Egbabor further explained that “beneficiaries would make 20 percent down payment of the cost of the building while the balance would be spread on a monthly payment for five years”.

While thanking the management of Nefkon, Hon. Egbabor assured them of the commitment of his administration to continue to create enabling environment for investors to succeed in the local government. He also used the medium to call on other investors to come and partner with the council as well as those who are willing to establish businesses in the area.

Reacting on behalf of the staff of the council, the NULGE chairman, Mr. Churchill Okeh, thanked the chairman for the great initiative and his concern for the welfare of the staff. Speaking, he said “in the face of this very difficult economy, only leadership built on technical initiative such as t his can redeem the people. I’m particularly happy that this whole exercise is centred on the welfare of the staff.

“I want to tell you that we are very happy with what you are doing and we will give you maximum cooperation to ensure the success.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Nefkon Nigeria Limited, Mr. Nelson Onowigho Onowotu in his speech assured the council of his total compliance and delivery of quality housing to the benefit of staff and other stakeholders in the local government. He therefore called for compliance on the part of council and beneficiaries.”
