President Goodluck Jonathan has been urged to send some of his ministers packing for alleged failure to deliver on their mandate to the Nigerian people.

In an interview with our correspondent, the chairman of Nigeria for Good Leadership and Accountability (NGLA), Andy Okodogbe claimed that some of the present ministers had turned Nigerians to students in a class room.

He said rather than carry out their mandate for the betterment of the citizens all they do was to speak English from morning till evening with nothing tangible being done to better the lot of the people.

He lamented that despite the laudable programme under the transformation agenda, those appointed by the President to run the affairs in the various ministries and agencies were drawing the hands of the clock backward.

In his words; “If the head of MDA continue to speak grammar from morning till evening Mr. President will discover at the end of the day that he has failed because he chooses to do so. At the assumption of office of the minister of agriculture, for instance, I thought Nigeria will move from over dependent on oil to agriculture but today he has turned himself to a motivational speaker with nothing to show”.

He added that; “One can only point to two visible ministries which is that of Works and Aviation where some works are going on though slow maybe with more funding they will do better, the Niger Delta Ministry cannot point to anything as his achievement; and this is a shame and a big problem to the Jonathan’s administration.”

According to him; “Nigerians are tired of professional theorist as ministers, Nigerians are tired of motivational speakers and preachers as leaders; Nigerians want practical people; doers of tangible things and not rabble rousers”

Okodogbe also decried the increasing rate of joblessness in the country, the ever increasing level of corruption and insecurity.

He expressed his total support for autonomy for local government council and abolition of joint account for local and state governments saying it runs against the tenet of democracy.

He advised President Jonathan to come out of his shell and discharge the mandate given to him by Nigerians by ensuring that the dividends of democracy get to the people.
