The Delta Central Elite Forum has declared Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as symbol of hope and liberation, calling on the National Assembly and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to speedily hit the ground running to fill the vacuum created by the death of Late Senator Pius Ewerhido in the Delta Central Senatorial seat.

In a communiqué issued after a crucial meeting held in Ughelli, president of the group, Comrade Warri Ojarikre Dennis tasked all relevant authorities to take a cue from what happened in Plateau North Senatorial District with the unfortunate death of Senator Gyang Dantong that took place July 8 2012 and by October 6th 2012 the space was filled.

The group stated; “Delta Central Senatorial seat was the only Urhobo seat and presence in the Federal Government.  It is therefore worrisome for nothing to have been heard of any mechanism being put in place to fill the vacuum over two months after the death of the late Senator and Advocate; thus, blocking out the Urhobos from the Nigerian project”.

“All over the world, government is known not to tolerate vacuum hence we are appealing that the Urhobos must not be schemed out in the Nigerian project of which we are major stakeholders as the fifth largest ethnic group in Nigeria”.

The group also called on all bonafide voters in the district to jettison partisan politics and embrace the impeccable and liberating credentials of the APC Senatorial Aspirant, Olorogun Otega Emerhor in the forthcoming Delta Central by-election.

While noting that Olorogun Emerhor’s quest to leave his peaceful, stable and comfortable life to veer into the murky water of politics with the sole purpose of liberating his people is the best thing that has ever happened to the good people of the Central, they further urged all to seize this opportunity to cause the needed change the people have been yearning for.

The statement further read; “we call on the good people of the central to be wary of political bigots whose stock in trade is to continually impoverish the people through endless primitive accumulation of wealth. These people have suddenly come up again, blaring sirens everywhere as if they mean well for the underdeveloped and marginalized people of the central.   These conspirators and agents of divisiveness are everywhere again in the name of consultations and misleading the gospel of liberation.  They are smooth talkers and are ready to throw money all over the places.  They are political wolves in sheep clothing.  We must learn to single them out and show them the way out because this is the time for serious business”.

The group urged all youths and stakeholders to be ready to secure their votes and block all rigging formula of these political marauders, saying, “Remember that if you don’t offer yourself to be used, nobody will force you to be used.  If we must secure our future, if we must progress, if we must be economically viable, then we must join in this struggle.  If we do not fight our fight, nobody will fight it for us. We must therefore remind them of their antecedents and tactics.  We must summon the boldness to tell them we are students of history and urge them not to toil with our collective destiny.  The time is now or never”.

Meanwhile the Delta Central Elite Forum has urged all Urhobos to ignore gospel of opposition for which the PDP has blamed the marginalization of the Urhobos on.

The group added; “for the sake of clarity, we wish to remind them that we have numerous Ministers, Board Chairmen, SSAs from opposition parties of the South West and South East.  What we are lacking is an irrepressible advocate of the Urhobos.  This is where Emerhor stands in.  Olorogun Emerhor is a true son of Urhobo, a patriot who faithfully and generously donated to the building of the Urhobo Conference Centre at Uwiamughe. A symbol of our cultural heritage! He has equally served faithfully in different committees in the UPU. Many indigent Urhobo sons and daughters are benefiting from his scholarship scheme. Till this moment, Emerhor’s passion to come to the aid of humanity is of unequal magnitude. His good gesture dots the corners of the State and even those who now appear to be standing on his way, but the Lord is on His throne.  He who has the light let him show it”.
