Governor Uduaghan is an Icon of leadership – Onuesoke
By Our Correspondents
A special project Director in the office of Delta State Governor, Mr. Onuesoke Okpako Igho Sunny, has described Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as an icon of leadership in the country.
Mr. Onuesoke, an environmentalist who stated this in an exclusive interview with the Reformer, in Warri, noted that for some major national papers to award Governor Uduaghan with the man of the year award simple shows the depth of his leadership skills.
He said; “Yes, the Sun, The Vanguard, and the Leadership newspapers all found my governor fit to be given the man of the year award. If they can find my governor worthy of that award that only means that he is an icon of leadership.”
The Special Project Director also commended Govenor Uduaghan for his outstanding projects cited all over the state, describing the governor as a great achiever of all times.
He emphasized that one of the outstanding achievements of Governor Uduaghan was his ability to maintain and sustain peace in the state during his first three years in office, adding that without peace the state would not have achieved the massive infrastructural development it was now enjoying.
Speaking on those criticizing the government of Governor Uduaghan, Mr. Onuesoke advised them to come out with constructive criticism that would move the state forward, wondering why some people are bent on destroying the legacy of the state government.
He said; “We have the Asaba Airport which is moving very fast. It is one of the fastest growing airports in the country in terms of patronage. So let us be frank with our conscience. Some said he started late but to me it is not late because there were other demanding issues. It took this man approximately three years to sustain peace in this state. I just have to be frank. If the governor is doing good tell him and if he is doing bad tell him also. But let your criticism be constructive. He is only human.”
“Everybody is entitled to his opinion but if you want to criticize him you should do that constructively and objectively. Criticism is a universal norm. Even Obama himself is being criticized too. But let me remind you that if you are doing that you have to do it constructively because Governor Uduaghan is representing an institution,” he stressed.
On the Ughelli/Asaba dualization, the Special Project Director, assured Deltans that contrary to rumours going round that the Governor was going to abandon the project, the Governor is going to finish the project before the expiration of his tenure, adding that section B of the project was already 90% done.
He said; “Governor Uduaghan is definitely going to finish the project before he leaves office. As you can see the project is moving very fast. The sector B of the project is about 90% completed and the other sector that was given to another contractor is also moving fast. Uduaghan has no intention of abandoning the project. Why will he abandoned such a project. He will complete it before the end of his tenure. He has said it time without number that he is not going to leave any of his projects uncompleted, except for mega projects.
“Look at the Agbigborodo road project. That is a swampy area, but go there today you will see wonders on those swampy areas. Look at the massive Ode Itsekiri road project. It is wonderful. Then cross to the other side of Ode Itsekiri road and you will marvel at the impressive work done on this swampy land. This cannot be compared to somebody who is constructing a road on a dry land. Look my friend, what the governor is doing is unprecedented,” he said.
